Founded in 1988 and entirely included in the District of Belluno, the Park includes the mountain groups of Alpi Feltrine, Monti del Sole, Schiara, Talvena, Pramper and Spiz di Mezzodì. Among the locations in the territory of the Park, the suggestive Val di Canzoi, with its nature trails and the environmental education centre "La Santina", is particularly interesting for tourism and excursions. Of great charm, also for the quality of its humid biotypes, the Val del Mis where you can immerse yourself in "a tangle of wild mountains" (Dino Buzzati). Not to be missed, going towards Agordo, a visit to the centre of Villa Imperina, the most important mining pole of the Dolomites and the main copper source of the Republic of Venice.
In addition to the vastness of the suggestions and sceneries, the Park combines an extraordinary biological richness, a real distinctive element of its territory. Its vascular flora includes about 1,400 species, representing a quarter of the flora of the entire national territory and among them there are many which stand out for their rarity or high phytogeographic value. The faunistic aspect is no less important. To give some numbers and thus help to understand the importance of these environments: there are 115 species of birds nesting in the Park, equal to almost half of the nesting species in Italy. There are over 3000 chamoises and more than 2000 roe deer; almost 100 species of diurnal butterflies and about 50 species of Carabid coleoptera.
