Also known as the Cismon Valley, the Primiero includes the towns of Fiera di Primiero, San Martino di Castrozza, Imer, Mezzano, Transacqua and Tonadico. With its surroundings, Canal San Bovo nel Vanoi and Sagron Mis, it is located between the southern Dolomites, just over the border between the provincial territory of Belluno (Veneto) and Trentino.
The valley is surrounded by three mountain groups: the Lagorai to the west, the Vette Feltrine to the south and to the north the group of the Pale di San Martino, one of the most famous in the Dolomites and a popular destination for climbers and trekkers from all over the world. The mountains are one of the main attractions of the valley, whose winter and summer seasons attract thousands of tourists every year.
In combination with the quality of services, the villages in the valley offer the beauty of a breathtaking natural setting. It is no coincidence that not only the Dolomites, but also the Val Canali of Primiero, now headquarter of the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park, enchanted artists and writers, including the Belluno-born journalist and writer Dino Buzzati, who described them in his writings.
