Not just bean. The plateau is also famous for the breeding of a particular type of autochthonous sheep that takes the name "Lamon breed" from this particular area. These animals, very resistant and excellent walkers and grazers, are well suited to transhumance which, not surprisingly, until the 1950s, was one of the widespread activities among the people of Lamon and in particular among the inhabitants of Arina, Costa, Piei, Sala and Gorna. Today the Lamon breed sheep is reared in a few small farms, which in spring and summer make the animals graze on meadows such as those of Monte Coppolo. In order to guarantee the knowledge, conservation and enhancement of the breed, two farms have also been set up in public facilities for the conservation of the breed and since 2015 the "Fea de Lamon" Association has organized the "Rassegna della Pecora di Lamon" (Lamon sheep show). The event, which is characterized by a rich calendar, is an unmissable opportunity to get to know a peculiar part of the culture and secular traditions of the plateau.
