Especially along the Senaiga basin there are numerous caves, originating from the frequent karst phenomena that have involved the limestone rocks that make up the Lamonese territory.
Some of them can be visited by the most experienced and well-equipped hikers.
The most famous is the Grotta dell'Orso, an enormous cavity that penetrates the mountain for dozens of metres. Inside it have been found bone remains that can be traced back to the Ursus Spelaeus, which died out about 180,000 years ago and whose reconstructed skeleton is now visible inside the town hall of Lamon.
Of smaller dimensions, but equally suggestive, is the Grotta dell'Acqua Nera (Black Water Cave), rich in limestone formations and accessible by a short deviation from the main path.
